I know that there are many parents here on JU. I would be interested in hearing your viewpoint. You as a parent raise your son the best that you can. Your son accepts your faith and later lives by similar convictions as your faith (or religion). Your son is a good man being kind to others and standing up for the poor and for the oppressed but as a young adult your son is falsely accused of a crime he did not commit. His sentence? To be burned in a cage. After this tragic event you se...

Ever since i have been young I have often looked down at my navel and pondered. Why is there always lint in my navel? It doesn't matter the color of shirt for the lint in my navel varies from time to time. I do not know when, how, or WHY it is there but it seems my body comes fully equipped with a lint trap. This once life giving orifice has resulted in a natural producer of fuzz bunnies. Am I the only one?

The five calamities According to the Mishnah (Taanit, 4:6), five specific events occurred on the ninth of Av: -On this day, the Twelve spies sent by Moses to observe the land of Canaan. Two of the spies brought a positive report, but 10 of the spies brought an "evil report" about the land that caused the Children of Israel to cry, panic and despair of ever entering the "Promised land". For this, they were punished by G-d that they would not enter, and that for all generations the day woul...

I received this in an email. Hope you enjoy it as much as I. Sorry about the formatting. A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare works of art. They had everything in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael. They would often sit together and admire the great works of art. When the Vietnam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The father was notified and grieved deeply for his only son. About a month...

This is just one of the reasons why we support Israel. There are MANY many more that have made Aliyah. Not to mention we have a very large population of Jews. Just something to think about. Three soldiers lost their lives battling Hizbullah in southern Lebanon on Tuesday: First Sgt. Michael Levin, St.-Sgt. Yonatan Einhorn, and Lt. Ilan Gabbai. Originally from Philadelphia, Michael Levine, 21, had been living in Jerusalem for the past five months. He made aliya as a lone soldier when...

A few weeks ago I was out of town visiting my sweet fiance in Baltimore (before she went back to Kyrgyzstan). The people we stayed with had a Mandolin. I have never played a string instrument but found myself playing it. In a matter of a few minutes I was enjoying it more and more. In a hour I was able to play a few chords and was doing quite well. My question to the JU community is this. Is playing the madolin masculine or does it degrade masculinity in your eyes? Thanks for you...

I found a list that showed all the missing verses that are in the KJV but not in many of the newer translations such as ASV, RSV, NIV, etc. I looked at my NIV and they are not there. Check them out. Matt. 17:21, 18:11, 23:14 Mark 7:16, 9:44, 9:46, 11:26, 15:28 Luke 17:36, 23:17 John 5:4 Acts 8:37, 15:34, 28:29 Romans 16:24 1 Tim 2:7 2 Tim 4:22 I have many other verses that have been significantly modified but this is outright blatant. Why would these be taken out?

A couple had two little boys who were always getting into trouble. Their parents knew that if any mischief occurred in their village, their sons were probably involved. The boys' mother heard that an elder in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her sons. The elder agreed, but asked to see them separately. So, the mother sent her youngest son first, in the morning. The elder, a huge man with a booming voice, sat the boy down and ...

A girl asks her boyfriend to come over Friday night and have dinner with her parents. Since this is such a big event, the girl tells him that after dinner, she would like to have sex with him for the first time. The boy is ecstatic, but he has never had sex before, so he takes a trip to the pharmacy to get some condoms. The pharmacist helps the boy for about half an hour. He tells the boy everything there is to know about condoms and sex. At the register, the pharmacist a...

So I have to share my embarassing moments? It was the summer after my first year in college. One night my nose started bleeding and we couldn't get it to stop (no physical play at fault). We were just about to go to the ER and figure out what was going on. When my sis-in-law just got off the phone with her mom with a potential solution. She took a paper towel and ran it under cold water and then we placed it under my upper lip and I was instructed to squeeze. Well, it worked. Yes I kn...

I was just thinking about different expressions that I think may be seen as adolescent but interesting. I am curious if others out there do the same thing? here are a few examples. Let's make like a tree and leave (BTF-II) Let's make like a shepherd and get the flock out of here Let's make like a fetus and head out (kind of disgusting I know) Let's make like a writer and book it. Let's make like chicken's and fly this coup. Let's make like a taliban and blow this joint (maybe offe...
