For those that don't know I was born and raised in Colorado.  I moved to the Durango, CO area back in 2000.  This is a little of my background.  Now for a little background in the area.

Durango is very much a liberal and hippie town however La Plata County is made up of mostly conservatives.  In 2004 La Plata county voted for current president Bush and it is my understanding that our county is considered a swing county which could prove to determine where Colorado's electorates go (Dem or Rep).

On Monday, John McCain's campaign announced that John was coming to Durango for a rally.  I am hopeful that I and my wife will be able to obtain seats in order to be a part of American History!

To my understanding only Ralf Nader and John F Kennedy campaigned in our little crunchy town so this is quite a rare opportunity.

From the linked article I noticed that the Pro-Obama groups in the area are trying to place a 'guilt by association' statue in the Durango High School parking lot.  McCain is guilty of being like Bush and their association is a life size statue of Bush and McCain embracing.

I am half tempted to produce a sign to hang up that says something like:

If McCain is like Bush based on 'guilt by association' then let's be 'fair' and do the same for Obama.  Obama is just another 'Ayers, Rezco, Farakhan, Wright, etc.'  Now which association(s) do you consider to be worse?

Crunchies just sometimes hurt my teeth!

McCain is not like Bush merely by association.  As you've heard from McCain's own lips, he's supported Bush over 90% of the time.  His actions and deeds are what associates him with Bush.  What actions or deeds of Obama's make him guilty of being like Ayers, Wright, Farakhan, or Rezco?  Has Obama bombed the Capitol, etc?

Davad, using YOUR own words.

he's supported Bush over 90% of the time.

If McCain is 'like' Bush because he's supported him 90% of the time (almost 8 years).  Please tell me how being associated and working with these fellows some for 20 years doesn't suggest Obama supported what these named Gentlemen did and stand for?

Has Obama bombed the Capitol, etc?

Has McCain been the President?  No.  Has McCain supported the President for almost 8 years? Yes.

Has Obama personally set bombs? No.  Has Obama been affiliated with someone who openly admits it for several years? Yes

Has Obama been convicted of corruption? No.  Did he buy his house from a convicted slum lord? Yes

Has Obama been caught on tape preaching white hate, anti-semitism, etc? No.  Did he attend this man's church for 20 years and was married and children baptized by him? Yes

Let's also not fail to mention that Obama spoke openly about Rev. Wright that he couldn't disown him.

All I'm trying to do is hold Obama to the same light as they are trying to hold McCain.

That doesn't make him Bush. Just like Obama's relationships with Ayers does not make him a terrorist. But McCain has not denied being in sync most of the time with Bush will Obama continues to deny his connections, even when more information comes to light that brings these connects closer and closer. Besides, Bush has not done anything criminal besides some really bad management in some parts of the Gov't that some would see as criminal (not in a legal sense). The economy is hardly his fault alone, don't forget this problem we are currently having has Democrats written all over it with a hint of Republican lack of trying to stop it.

The fact remains that McCain offers little beyond continuing the Bush years. Obama, on the other hand, does not damn America, nor advocate bombing the Pentagon.

Exactly

Obama, on the other hand, does not damn America, nor advocate bombing the Pentagon.

Nor does he condemn it at least not until it is in his political interest to do so.

Probably, but I continue to remind some that Bush may have been President but Congress holds the wallet and Democratic fingerprints can be found all over it from way back and even more now in the recent 2 years.

Obama, on the other hand, does not damn America, nor advocate bombing the Pentagon.

He may not openly dam America, but sitting there quietly while your mentor does it is not exactly objecting to it and to distance yourself from this person only after it affects your political position shows selfishness more than leadership. And BTW, no one ever said Obama was a terrorist, but ignoring their past to benefit from their positions is accepting their beliefs.

on Oct 24, 2008

What people need to keep in mind here is not that Obama has done anything with these people, it's that he had an association with them at one time, which makes some people wonder why if they are not people someone running for President should be relating to in any way and why has he not truly condemn them except when push comes to shove and his political position is being squeezed?

Just one year - but dont expect honesty from bots.

Both statements are pure conjecture.  I am not voting for McCain because I think he will turn once in office and be little different from Obama.

And damn america?  I guess Michelle has the mouth that sank Philly then.  I doubt she learned that outside the marital bed.  WHile he HAS not, we do not know he WILL not.  Just as we do not know if McCain WILL govern like Bush (I think not).

Obama on the other hand, offers a lot beyond the sigmoid colon.  Lube up, folks.

Has Obama been caught on tape preaching white hate, anti-semitism, etc? No

Check out http://www.nakedemperornews.com/

it has ... pertinent clips of obama's speeches and interviews over the years. Obama refers to "we african americans" and spreading the wealth of "rich WHITE" people. (why are the rich WHITE? why not just rich?)

OK lets skip Ayers and the rest of that bunch. How often has Obama voted outside Harry Reid's (Senate majority leader over the worst ranked senate in history) guidance? The answer is zero, because he's a democratic party yes-man. 10% can be a big deal depending on the issue. If you want Harry Reid (and Nancy Pelosi) for president well go ahead and vote for Obama.

That thought made me throw up in my mouth a little bit
