I was riding my bicycle at lunch today and rode past some people playing some hoops.

There were no officials.
There were no rowdy fans.
There were no cameras.
There were no attitudes.
The name of the game was H-O-R-S-E
The people came to play to have fun.
All with Smiles on their faces.

I for one enjoy NBA playoffs but feel that they are definitely over payed and many are 'cry babies.' It was really exciting to me to watch people play the game in it's purity. Just For Fun. There was no other reason as it was a beautiful colorado day. To me to see any sport in it's pure form is such a beautiful thing.

as a child I was never happier than when I was playing ball, any kind of ball, I grew up in the streets of NYC and handball and stickball were the real national passtime of ghetto kids.

Like playing with my sons!  Oops are do overs, and yea, I psych them, but then laugh and give them another shot!  The purity of the game!

I remember the days where any kind of ball and a straight stick was what we used. No passions, just pure excitement and joy. One day we couldn't find a tennis, racket, soft ball, etc so we used golf balls and an aluminum bat. We had fun other than the sting in your hand.

Anyone else have memories like these?

We had an open field as I lived in the country so no broken windows and running.
