Yes that's right.

As of today I have 430 days left to live. No longer will I have the freedom of free choice. I will no longer be able to make my own choices in life. No longer will the decisions made effect only one person.

As of Tuesday April 4 I am now engaged for a life long adventure that is set to begin in June of 07. Although this is not a race it will definitely be an adventure. And just like an adventure race when there are times when you feel like you can't go on or you want to give up it is then that just finishing is its own reward and is worth it. For if all adventures were easy there would be no reward for finishing.

I have about 430 days left as a single man.

Okay if you haven't guessed already yes I am engaged/betrothed. On Tuesday I have asked the most woman in the world (to me of course) to become my wife. We are equally excited as we are nervous at this point. Needless to say neither one of us have any nails on our finger tips. I will say this has taken some time to really sink in to reality but the more it sinks the more it replaces the nervousness leaving more room for excitement. Now to make things a bit more interesting to you (the reader) she is from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. No she is not a mail order bride but one that has been ordered for me by the one above. Her brown and green eyes are like the colors of the mountains of Colorado connected with the blue sky which are the color of my eyes.

A more personal note:

Maybe it is just me but after I proposed to her she has been so much more radiant and beautiful than EVER before. It makes me think of the quote, "A women is not loved because she is beautiful rather she is beautiful because she is loved."

If there is interest I am willing to share some of the juicy details of the actual proposal.

That's all for now.

Dont you think that is being a bit greedy?

But a very amusing way to put it.  I hope she (singular, right?) has a sense of humor!  And congratulations!  To both of you!

Congratulations!

If you have met the right woman, though, you phrased it wrong...you only have 430 days till your life BEGINS!

Gideon,

Yes I have no doubts that she is the right one. I have more doubts of my failing as the right one . but 430 days till my life begins didn't seem as catchy. But nonetheless I do agree. This will be quite the challenge but the risk is a great reward!

Ha ha My mind was lost . most WONDERFUL woman. Sorry. What was I thinking. Funny how the mind slips details.

MM, the funny thing is she almost knows more english than I do. It is really frustrating speaking to a foreigner and they correct you on your english. She speaks Russian, Spanish, and some hebrew & Kyrgyz. We are both of the same house when it comes to religion. We met through friends and last fall was the first physical meeting. But I knew before physically meeting that she was the right one for me. One of the greatest characteristics that I see from our relationship is that after a disagreement we both wind up apologizing. One for doing the other wrong and the other for having the wrong attitude. Such a unique and beautiful thing.

We followed the course of the "courtship model". We didn't experience our first kiss and long hugs until after the courtship proposal.

Here is how the engagement proposal went.

I took her up to the top of a mountain. On the radio was playing love songs. Here is what I said.

Marianna look at all the mountains, rivers, and valleys. All this I would give to you but they are not mine to give.
Look at the sky and all it's radiance. All this I would give to you but they are not mine to give.
Just as the sky and the mountains come together so have our hearts.
The colors of your eyes are like the mountains with beautiful brown and green coloring. My eyes are like the sky blue with the yellow of the sun.
And we too have been brought together for something beautiful.
Something as beautiful of marriage.

Then I pulled out the ring that is two tone gold with five diamonds in a channel style.

The ring has two types of gold representing two people being molded together. You'll notice the ring has five diamonds. The number five in scriptures represents grace. It is by God's grace that we are brought together and that we allow ourselves to be molded.

There you go MM . Thanks all for your support.

Congratulations Dude.

You are starting with a strong foundation not one built on sand as so many young couples today do. God will truly bless your union....I just know it!!

Since my husband and I became Christians our marriage has definitely been so much stronger....I think of that verse that says "three strands cannot be easily broken." I only wish we had started out that way.

Blessings to you both!!
